Mike was up before us and cooked up some tasty & filling breakfast burritos. We packed up and hit the road in a slight drizzle. Not enough to put on rain gear, and the radar showed things clearing up by mid-morning.
That is, until it started raining harder. Still not a downpour or anything, but enough to soak us. Fortunately, it was warm rain and we kept going without the gear. We hit some of the toughest hills we faced so far, still being rained on. The rain abated to a slight drip every once in a while and we were even mostly dry by the time we got to the edge of Reedsburg. That’s when the skies opened and poured on us again. Totally soaked, we pulled into the Super 8, got checked in, got some rags from housekeeping to wipe down the bikes, and headed for the pool and hot tub for a nice warm soak.
That evening, we walked across the street to find dinner and make a quick visit to a hardware store for some Shoe Goo for a repair to my cycling shoe. On the way, we stopped in the bowling alley for another Manhattan toast to Chris (and Dana had to coach the very young bartender on how to make a Manhattan).
Then it was off to the Golden Buffet to refill the fuel tanks. After dinner, it was back to the hotel and bed to get some good rest before a long day to La Crosse tomorrow.
