Mike and Chandra were so kind as to let us stay in Madison another day. Dana went for a run and then we did a loop around the bigger lake, Lake Mendota, that took us through the little town of Middleton and the University of Wisconsin campus.

After our mini-tour of Lake Mendota, we headed back to the house to move our laundry from the washer to the dryer and lines in the back yard and basement — still chores to do while touring, and fresh clothes are so refreshing. We took Mike and Chandra to dinner (well, *they* led us), first to the “Working Draft” brewery, but it was closed for a private party. We then went on to Mickey’s and had excellent veggie fare, and, of course, some more beer — Schlitz bottles & PBR drafts.

After dinner, Chandra headed home because she had an early morning rowing group. Mike treated us to Madison’s version of the Creamery and scrumptious cones for dessert. Tomorrow we’re off to Reedsburg to pick up the 400 State Trail to La Crosse.
