We had a lovely, relaxing day on Friday with Dave & Kathy getting readjusted to the time zone and catching up on the sleep we missed on our two days of April 2 from crossing the International Date Line. My Google Maps timeline showed I never moved from their place. Dana did, however, go for a walk/run. Other than unboxing the bikes so they’d fit in the car, and watching Dave coach Claude in some really interesting AI coding exercises, I was still a bit foggy and don’t remember too much about the day except that the company was delightful, the meals delicious as always and there were Mimosas (and wine)!
Another thing I do remember is Dave having detailed the Fit: cleaner and shinier than when I got it from the dealer! It was a salt-covered mess when we left back in January.
On Saturday morning, the 4th, we got up early, finally ready to get back to State College and all the chores that awaited. We said our thanks and good-byes to Kathy & Dave and headed north. It was a bittersweet homecoming because we had such a great time in the Southern Hemisphere. We unloaded Dana first but kept the bikes in the car, and I took them and my stuff to my house. It was nice to be home.
That afternoon we went to our friends the Rimmeys for their annual Fish Rodeo party. A good time was had by all and it was a great way to start off getting back into our State College lives. And as beautiful as all the places we visited were, we live in a beautiful place, too, with it’s own take on gorgeous sunsets (see the pics). Next trip will be circumnavigating Lake Michigan and visiting the Upper Peninsula that we missed on last year’s trip. Safe Travels!
