While we have much less work to do than when camping, we seem to luxuriate at motels longer than we really need to. On the road at 9:40, we set our sights on Harrington Beach State Park, with a stop in Milwaukee for lunch.
Wisconsin’s Bike trails are nothing short of amazing. Most are paved and when there’s a break requiring a move to a road, there is usually a bike lane and good signage to follow. Milwaukee was no exception either with great facilities and easy-to-follow. We passed the Celtic Fest (which didn’t start until 4pm that day, so nothing other than a photo of). We did end up at The Wicked Hop for a break from the ride and a very nice lunch, including liquid refreshments of course. It was a busy place and a long lunch, though, so we didn’t get back on the bikes until 2:40, with 40 miles left to go.
It was almost all on a bike trail, and other than a lot of street crossings through small towns, uneventful except for some hills and a headwind. We didn’t make it to the park until 7 and found our spot that Dana had reserved during lunch. I worked on setting up the camp while Dana started dinner. After dinner and showers, we walked around the campgrounds — no views of the lake from where we were — and then settled in for a needed rest.
