69.3 miles, 1650′ of climbing – to read from the beginning, click here.
After a hearty and healthy breakfast of yogurt, granola, & crepes, we said good-bye to David and Christa, and headed off to see Michigan Stadium before heading out of town. Since it’s half-buried, it’s not quite as impressive as Beaver Stadium or the Gator Stadium in Gainesville, but since it’s still the largest capacity stadium in the U.S. and the second largest in the world, we had to imagine what it looked like from the inside.
The rest of the day was a pleasant ride, though this time with a modicum of climbing that we’d been saved from so far. Also a bit of gravel, too, but nothing particularly grueling in either case. We did end up on the Falling Water Trail, a.k.a. The Inter-city Trail that runs from Jackson to Concord. At Concord, we rode out to Swain’s Lake Campground — a Jackson county run park. Campsites are $25 and include showers. We set up our tent, got showers, and then headed back into town to eat.
We’re currently at the Cadet Tavern, after scarfing one of their excellent pizzas down, and now we’re scarfing the wi-fi and charging our devices before heading back to the campground. It’s mosquito time, so we will be jumping right into the tent and hoping for an early start tomorrow to Kalamazoo.
Tidbit of the day from David & Christa: Michigan State Parks must make accommodations for self-power visitors whether they be hiking, cycling, or kayaking. Similar to the hiker-biker camps in Oregon, you are assured a place and we hope to take advantage of that on our trek up the Lake Michigan coast.

Looks beautiful!
