The Dakotas – Day 62 – Rest Days

9 miles cycling, 0′ of climbing (3346.6 total) – to read from the beginning, click here.

We spent the last two days in Goshen with Sarah, Curtis, and Elam feasting on their company and amazing meals, and comfortably resting our tired and sore bodies.

Sunday, we took a long walk with Sarah into town. Curtis & Elam escorted us partway to the Pumpkinvine Trail and then turned back as we continued into downtown. We ended up at the GBC – Goshen Brewing Company, and each had a beer to toast our visit.

Sunday evening, Sarah & Curtis cooked up a fabulous salmon & roasted corn dinner and we were joined by Curtis’ cousin Merlin and his stories of living in Brazil and other world travels.

Monday, Dana went for a run and I just relaxed and caught up on the blog and made a trip to the grocery store for provisions for the next couple of days. When Sarah got home from work, she and Dana went to pick up a sushi tray and salad fixings for the evening meal. Sarah is a chef and whipped up two amazing salads: spinach & marinated mushrooms, and romaine and goat cheese “boats”.

Tomorrow we’ll say our goodbyes to Goshen and Sarah, Curtis, & Elam and start heading east again towards home.

Hi, Paul! I finally had the chance to catch up on your blog posts. OMG, what a great trip you and Dana are having! I am so glad you liked Iowa City. We lived there for five years (1977-1982) and loved it. But then California beckoned. We’re still in Boston; home on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing both of you soon. Be safe! Hugh
